What is a sender ID?

Sender IDs are unique identifiers, usually alphanumeric, that represent the sender of an SMS message. They enable recipients to recognise the sender enhancing brand visibility and trust.

Countries and Requirements

Below is a breakdown of registration requirements in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and Tanzania:

Kenya

  • Requirements:

    • Authorization letter

    • A copy of the company's registration certificate

    • Registration fees

    • Trademark certificate (If the sender ID is for a product or service, that is different from the business name)

Uganda

  • Requirements:

    • Authorization letter

    • Registration fees

Nigeria

  • Requirements:

    • Authorization letter

    • Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) certificate

Tanzania

  • Requirements:

    • Registration form

    • Business registration certificate

    • Registration fees

Registration Process

  1. Application Submission: Complete the registration form and submit it along with the necessary documents (Authorization letters, business registration certificates, sample messages).

  2. Approval: The application will be reviewed by the relevant telecommunications authority.

  3. Activation: Upon approval, the Sender ID will be activated and ready for use.
